It is with the utmost pleasure that I bring you the new 2020 album from Pin, entitled: “…Now”
Way back in December of 2018 I had all the music written for a new Pin album… no vocals yet, but the plan was to write the lyrics and record the vocals the following summer (2019)… But, when I reviewed the material I had recorded (from 2016 to 2018), I decided that it really wasn’t up to snuff… It didn’t break any new ground, and I felt that it was a bit underwhelming in general. In retrospect the process of writing it had gone a bit too easily; it had been too comfortable, which isn’t always a bad sign, but is generally a cause for concern. The third Pin album (Think Locally, Kill Globally) had gone smoothly like that and it didn’t take long for me to see it as a weak album overall… I decided not to make that same mistake again with the albums and singles that followed (Product #8 to Internet Sarcasm to YNGAMRCNS). So in July of 2019 I deleted a whole album (and some b-sides) worth of new Pin material and started again… This new album was recorded between August 2019 and June 2020 (less than a year, which, when you consider that this is only the 6th full album from Pin in 20 years, is unheard of). The COVID pandemic certainly gave me more time to finish it; though it’s not a “pandemic album” it probably wouldn’t have got finished until at least the end of the summer otherwise.
